"The misconfiguration of CF cards is a serious error of SMARMARTIC and COMELEC which can disenfranchise millions of voters," said Mr. Rick Bahague, National Coordinator of the Computer Professionals' Union. "These are very important data thus any misconfiguration is unacceptable," added Mr. Bahague.

The CF card contains data on the assignment of a PCOS to a particular precinct, valid ballot bar codes that may be accepted on election day, and the list of candidates. The ballot images of voters and election returns will eventually be stored on the cards on Election Day.

"If they misconfigured CF cards, how can they assure that these cards will accurately store voter's ballot images?" Said Mr. Bahague.

Voters will feed their ballot on the PCOS machine which will read and store the picture or image of the ballot on the CF card.

"The recall of these cards poses another logistical nightmare for COMELEC/SMARTMATIC as they reconfigure every PCOS machine in far-flung areas," warned Bahague. "SMARTMATIC and COMELEC should be held accountable for this serious and unacceptable technical error."
