National Conference on Citizen Electoral Monitoring

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Greetings!

The Computer Professionals’ Union (CPU), as a partner of the multi-stage research, education and election monitoring Project 30-30 led by the Center for People Empowerment in Governance (CenPEG) and other partners, namely the Council for People’s Development and Governance (CPDG), National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP), the National Union of People’s Lawyers (NUPL) and the Health Alliance for Democracy (HEAD) and funded by the European Union, is spearheading a National Conference on Citizen Electoral Monitoring (NCCEM) on Saturday, April 24 from 1:00-5:00pm at the University Hotel in UP Diliman.

The NCCEM aims to update the ICT sector with the current situation of the 2010 automated elections, showcase the different ICT initiatives being conducted to monitor the elections, and express solidarity with the rest of the ICT sector to help uphold the integrity of this democratic exercise in a concerted effort.

In response to the urgent need for vigilance and participation of the citizens from various sectors especially the IT community, over the vulnerabilities of the current AES come election day, the NCCEM will launch its Citizens’ Monitoring Network in time for the May 10 elections.

The event is open to all interested parties. Attached is the concept paper and tentative programme of the event.
For any questions, please contact New Media Head, Leon Dulce, through his email: leon@cp-union.com, or call 4401430.

Yours in Service,
